A safe home for small animals

Animal Shelter Allenwinden

Since 2003, the Tierschutzverein Zug has run its own animal shelter in Allenwinden to ensure optimum care for animals. There, our specialized team cares professionally and affectionately for the welfare of all our “residents” and works to arrange the best possible placement of homeless domestic animals.

Our ability to care for sick, injured and/or under-nourished hedgehogs at the Allenwinden animal shelter fulfills an important function for their preservation. They are examined free of charge, medically cared for and released back into the wild after recovery. Whenever possible, hedgehogs are set free in their original habitat.

The building has a kitchen, a laboratory, an operating room, a quarantine station and offers space for about 70 cats along with rodents, birds and other small animals. All rooms have a covered outdoor enclosure so that our “guests” feel safe and secure in an environment as appropriate to the species as possible.
